Greet and give navigational support to our patients, staff and visitors. Must have a warm, outgoing personality and be able to stand for several hours.

Aquatic Therapy (On Hold)

Help aquatic therapy team at Cottage Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Santa Barbara.

Shifts vary.

Caring Hands

Sew Teddy bears for our Emergency, Outpatient, and Eye Center departments, along with heart-shaped pillows for our heart and abdominal surgery patients.

Location and times flexible.

Clerical Support

Help staff with filing, photocopying and collating. Run errands as needed.

Location: Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital

Monday to Friday: Times flexible.

Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital Patient Care

Help Physical and/or Occupational Therapy staff with a variety of tasks including observation, games, patient transport, equipment retrieval, wheelchair assist during ambulation training and assisting the rehabilitation aide.

Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital in Santa Barbara.

4 hour shift; Days flexible.

Emergency Department

Help staff with stocking supplies, running errands, prepping room, and checking in to offer support to our patients and their families.

Must be 18 years or older. 

Location: Santa Barbara, Goleta Valley, or Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital

Daily: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.,  8 p.m. to 12 a.m.

 

Endoscopy Department

Help staff with stocking supplies, running errands, prepping room, and offering support to our patients and their families.

Must be 18 years or older. 

Location: Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital

Monday to Fridays: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Eye Care Help Eye Center staff with smooth flow of patient care by performing non-clinical, clerical, and guest relations duties. 

Must be 18 years and older.

Monday to Friday: • 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Grotenhuis Pediatrics Outpatient

Help staff with stocking supplies, running errands, prepping room, and offering support to our patients and their families.

Must be 18 years or older. 

Location: Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital

Monday to Fridays: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

Junior Wheelchair Camp (Summer Only) Help campers perform activities alongside staff from Cottage Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Santa Barbara.

Located at UCSB campus.

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for week long program in summer.

Laboratory (On Hold) Help deliver items to the patient floors and treatment areas.

New To You Thrift Shop

The New-to-You Thrift Shop offers a fun way for our hospital volunteers to help in a retail setting. All proceeds go to the hospital to buy much needed equipment and offer academic scholarships for students going in to the medical field.

Patient Care Volunteer Help with re-stocking of supplies, interacting with patients and families, and discharging patients.

Must be 18 years or older.

Patient SIM Lab Act in the role of a patient or family member in simulation scenarios with Cottage Health Staff (nurses and physicians). 

Must be 18 years and older.

Patient Transportation Department Help deliver patients or supplies to the patient floors and treatment areas.

Location: Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital

Time: Weekdays 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Patient/Visitor Services Provide patients and their visitors a chance to share their stories and interests. Essentially be a good listener and show compassion.

Location: Santa Barbara, Goleta Valley, and Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospitals.  

Days and times flexible.

Pet Assisted Therapy Bring comfort and cheer to patients by visiting with your dog. To take part, your dog must be well behaved and certified by Therapy Dogs International.

One weekly shift of one hour. Flexible times.

Pharmacy Help deliver items to the patient floors and treatment areas.

 Must be 18 years and older

Pre-Admit Unit (On Hold) Under the guidance of the pre-surgery charge nurse, coordinate smooth flow of patients through scheduled procedures by doing non-medical, clerical and customer service duties. Must be 18 years or older. Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital only.

Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to noon noon to 4 p.m.

Spiritual Care

Provide patients, their family, staff, volunteers, and physicians with spiritually supportive presence, including but not limited to, requested prayer and faith-based rituals, as well as active listening.

Surgery Department

Help staff with stocking supplies, running errands, prepping room, and offering support to our patients and their families.

Must be 18 years or older.

Surgery Waiting Area

Serve as a liaison between families in waiting area and clinical staff in patient recovery room. 

Must be 18 years or older.

Tray Favors (On Hold)

Create handmade favors for patients' meal trays.

Women's Heart Program WomenHeart champions visit women being treated for heart disease to share experiences and help support and educate patients toward better health.

Wound Management Center (On Hold)

Assist with flow of patients as they visit the Center for Wound Management at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital.

Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
